The Von Buhl vineyards of Pfalz were once considered some of the greatest wine estates not just of Germany, but of the entire world.
Over the years, bits and pieces and parcels of the estate have been sold off to various other producers and although reduced in size to just over 50 hectares,the remaining vineyards are absolutelyincredible and continue to produce some of the most amazing riesling available on the market today. They are truly brilliant wines.
The vineyards are now being managed biodynamically too.
In the underground cellar – large oak casks are used plus minimal use of sulfur dioxide use during vinification, long lees ageing and minimal movement of the wine.
Von Buhl is a certified organic winery which has been family owned and operational for the last 150 years. They strive to produce ethically created and sustained wines that let the natural qualities of the grapes shine through.
This riesling has a distinct minerality that balances ripe fruit flavours of peach and mandarin beautifully. Dry and crisp, this is refreshing and would pair very well with sea food dishes and soft cheeses.
