Seasoned bourbon drinkersare likely to fondly remember the Belle Meade Bourbon label, bottled by Nelsons Green Brier Distillery but sourced from MGP in Indiana. WhileBelle Meade is no longer available outside of Tennessee, Nelson Bros. Classic Bourbon is its spiritual successor. Bourbon is sourced from Tennessee, Kentucky, and Indiana and blended before bottling at 93.3 proof. The nose features caramel, vanilla, and sweet fruit with a touch of oak. The palate starts very sweet, with caramel, sweet fruit, and sponge cake before spicy black pepper livens the mid palate. The pepper lingers throughout the finish where it is joined by notes of mint,dark cherry, and charred oak.
