Description
Matic are a north-eastern Slovenian winery located in Stajerska which borders Austria and Hungary. It is an old family run estate, now run byMatija erjav (known by his friends as Matic) who uses absolutely no chemical interventions in the vineyard or winery. Thecellar itself dates back to 1852 and reflects the stripped back and raw nature of the wines.
This skin contact wine is made with 100% Pinot Gris, turning the juice a beautiful hue of soft salmon pink due to the pigmentation within the grapes skins. It is made completely naturally (so there is visible sediment) and has a tannic edge to it that lends balance and complexity to the palate. Expect flavours of strawberries, rosehip and red apples, with an almost green, floral finish.
