Description
Matic are a north-eastern Slovenian winery located in Stajerska which borders Austria and Hungary. It is an old family run estate, now run byMatija erjav (known by his friends as Matic) who uses absolutely no chemical interventions in the vineyard or winery. Thecellar itself dates back to 1852 and reflects the stripped back and raw nature of the wines.
This wine is made with 100% Riesling and aged in amphora (clay) pots on the skins, creating a slight skin contact texture. This is deep lemon, verging on orange in the glass, vibrant and bright, with zero residual sugar. Flavours of rose petal, orange zest, stewed apple and honeysuckle are present throughout, and it has a lingering persistant finish. It is something rather special!
