Description
Created as a medicine over 500 years ago by the Chartreuse monks in Vauvert, a small suberb of Paris, Green Chartreuse is the only green liqueur in the world that has a completely natural colour. It is made using 130 diiferent plants and the recipe is a secret still kept by two Chartreuse monks. The methodin which the liqueur is mascerated in order to preserve the vibrant colour is also a closely guarded secret – as is the slow aging process in wooden casks. The sales of Chartreuse fund the monks to this day.
The cuve des Meilleur Ouvriers de France is a blended liqueur from selected yellow chartreuses.
It has a slightly different aromatic balance displaying a liveliness and freshness of flavours.
