Description
Established in 1825 by brothers Donald andAlexander Johnston, Laphroaig still employs thetraditional methods and time–honored skills thathave been used for centuries to produce one ofthe most distinctive single malts in the world.Located at the head of Loch Laphroaig on thesouth coast of Islay, Laphroaig Distillery isrenowned for the rich, unmistakable taste of itswhisky.
Hailing from the legendary Islay distillery, thissingle cask of Laphroaig shows distinct floralaromas and unctuous flavors reminiscent of oily, chocolaty peat. The richness of its aroma andpalate are equaled only by its amazing complexity.Alongside its very long finish, the superb aromasof artichoke escape from the empty glass, showingthat this Laphroaig has many more secrets toshare.
On the nose, you’ll find lily of the valley, lemon, tiger balm, and clove. The palate hits you fast with peat, dark chocolate, fresh peach, pineapple, banana, and camphor. Chimney fire opens the finish, with further notes of vanilla, chocolate, barley, black tea, smoked bacon, and lime zest. Aged in a refill hogshead constructed of ex-bourbon barrels, and bottled in a 700 ml bottle at a cask strength of 55.1% abv.
