Description
Arran Barrel Reserve is a Scottish single malt whisky produced by the Arran distillery located on the Isle of Arran off the west coast of Scotland. Arran is a wonderful locaation for whisky production due to the unique micro-climate whichfacilitates a longer and gentlermaturation process, resulting in a smoother and richer flavour profile.
This lovely whisky is aged in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks. This helps to create a whisky that is aromatic and well balanced. The aging process has allowed the barrels to impart a golden colour to the whisky. the flavours are soft vanilla, cinnamon poached pears and toasted oak.
The Arran distillery is one of the youngest in Scotland – it was founded in 1995. The reputation is excellent despite its relatively young age and they source the water from the nearby Loch na Davie. Locally grown barley is used to create every drop. The distillery operates with a strong focus on sustainability and environmental conservation and generates its own energy via wind power.
